metaverse

How the metaverse works. What do you need to know?

Recently, more and more often you can hear from different people about the metaverse. But there is no understanding of what it is. That is, you need to delve into this issue and understand at least the features.

A bit of history

The term was coined by science fiction writer Neil Stevenson. Take, for example, the cyberpunk novel Avalanche, the name of a 3D virtual reality that you could enter using goggles. It was them that the main character used, who simultaneously chopped enemies with his katana. First it was in the metaverse, but then in the real world.

So, the author said that the metaverse is the next stage in the development of the Internet. This is something that can combine physical, augmented, and virtual reality.

The writer says that the world of the future does not look the best, as everywhere there are advertisements from corporations that have taken over the world and swallowed up people. Everywhere there are mountains of tubes where drugs were previously. Strings are strung along any road in order to kill passing motorcyclists. And there is no reason for this. The main character, Hiro, delivers pizza in the real world and lives in not the best conditions.

Of course, the current state of affairs does not suit him and he longs to just hide. And the best place is exactly virtual reality, which was invented by a hacker and called the metaverse. Here people have the opportunity not only to communicate, but also to travel, fight with swords and ride a car or motorcycle.

That is, in the metaverse, you can be whoever you want and without any consequences. If a player is killed, then he simply loses his avatar.

And the main character is almost everything in this metaverse, but his goal is not only to have fun. At the same time, Hiro is a really cool hacker who can not only influence the gameplay, but also get into the depths of this universe, and ordinary people cannot and do not even know about them.

What is the metaverse

What is the metaverse?

Venture capitalist Matthew Ball has an impressive essay on the metaverse. And he says the following about them: “it is a vast network of both permanent and real-time rendered three-dimensional worlds or simulations. They maintain continuity of identity or objects, payments, history, and so on. And at the same time, an almost unlimited number of users have the opportunity to use all this. And everyone will have a sense of presence.”

Of course, this is a rather complicated definition, but it can be expressed much more simply. It will simply be a set of virtual spaces that can be created and explored with other users who are in the wrong physical space.

Also, Tim Sweeney said that the metaverse is something like an online playground where you can play something with friends, and then everyone can watch something together.

Although Zuckerberg is the easiest to say about it. The Metaverse is just a voluminous Internet.

Basic Principles of the Metaverse

  1. Constancy. No time for reboots and no pauses. That is, the world is infinite.
  2. Synchronicity. Everything happens in real time for everyone.
  3. No restrictions. There can be an infinite number of users.
  4. The functioning of the economy. If we take the domestic economy, it works fully. That is, you can not only spend money, but also earn money, open a business, invest or sell something.
  5. Augmentation. The connection between real and virtual life.
  6. Compatibility. Here we are talking about unprecedented data compatibility.
  7. Openness. It is available to any person.
