Advantages and disadvantages of 5G technology

Recently, more and more people are talking about 5G technology, which only impresses people with its name. But if there is an understanding of wireless communication, some basic knowledge, then questions arise regarding technologies. In fact, for many today, 3G and 4G are new technologies that are not fully understood. But with new implementations, transfer speeds can be over 10 Gb per second, which is truly amazing and empowering.

But it is important to understand that new products are initially accompanied by some difficulties that you need to be prepared for. For example, the signal may not pass through obstacles, which means that a line of sight is required between the transmitter and the device. So there are doubts now, and we need to figure out the new technology.

Add-ons worth knowing about

In fact, 5G technology opens up new perspectives not only for entrepreneurs, but also for individuals. The use of this technology can provide data transfer for each user at a rate of up to 10 Gb per second. At the same time, the maximum indicator during tests gave a result of 25.3 GB.

That is, speaking as simply as possible, you can download a movie in the highest quality, not in a couple of hours, but in just a few seconds. And this can be called a revolution.

Already, experts are saying that due to the emergence of new features, Wi-Fi will not be used so actively. So any device with the new standard will not depend on the presence of a router nearby.

And the inclusion of a new standard will most likely entail large-scale changes and technical features.

Of course, the successful use of new technologies requires new equipment. And some manufacturers in their smartphones highlight the ability to work in 5G, which is a huge plus.

Since high-frequency waves of short length are used, the network model will change in many ways. To emit a signal, high towers are not needed, while compact transmitters that are located close to each other will simply be needed.

And the modern active production of the corresponding equipment indicates that the use of modern solutions is already very close. But before you expect all these updates, you need to study all their features and disadvantages.

The more opportunities, the more problems

Many people are waiting for the announcement of this technology. But there are those who are skeptical about this idea, saying that one should not rush to change the usual technological solutions to those that are now at the testing stage.

The benefits of 5G include:

  1. Increased data transfer rate.
  2. The delay is only 1 millisecond, which is 40 times lower than the existing indicator.
  3. Reduced energy consumption.
  4. Multichannel. An almost unlimited number of connections can be established on one square kilometer.

But there are also downsides:

  1. Network limitation up to 150 meters. That is, the base stations should be fairly close to each other. But, if the situation requires it, then you can increase the range.
  2. This technology now cannot pass even the weakest obstacle in the form of simple walls in an apartment. So in any apartment building, the technology simply won’t work.
  3. It is necessary to provide a direct line of sight between the device for transmitting and receiving. But it is not always possible to provide this.

Of course, many are still ready to use this technological solution. But such a communication format will be available and close to modern conditions only in a couple of years.
